The current pace of life demands a more functional distribution, with multipurpose spaces and solutions that both unite and separate environments. This is evident in the home of a couple in Palma who, along with their children, work from home. They required a layout that seamlessly integrates their professional lives with their family lives.
To address this, the decision was made to merge the living/dining room, kitchen, and office. This approach not only maximized space but also enhanced the brightness, making the house appear more expansive. The kitchen and living/dining room are visually demarcated by an island, while the office is partitioned off with a sliding door, optimizing space usage. This layout has resulted in a design that is simultaneously attractive, functional, and contemporary.
White predominates the design, serving a dual purpose. It amplifies the sense of space and reflects natural light, brightening the area even further. Light hues, especially white, play a central role in this project. Elements like oak wood laminate, walls, and high ceilings are all deliberately chosen to maximize light and convey a sense of expansiveness.
To add depth and contrast against the prevailing light tones, blue accents have been strategically integrated into select pieces of furniture and decor.
Regarding lighting, given the dominance of light colors, the chosen fixtures emit a warm, gentle glow. This fosters a comfortable ambiance conducive to both relaxation and focus, essential for a dwelling designed for living and working.
